Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary


Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary situated in Nagpur district of Maharashtra state of India. It is situated about 50 km from Nagpur airport and railway station and one can reach within an hour from Nagpur. Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary is comparatively a new generation wildlife safari park and it came in lime light during 2013-14 when a famous male tiger named Jai migrated to Umred Karhandla Sanctuary all the way from Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary, which is 130 km from Umred. This migration by the might ruler Jai stunned many wildlife researchers and wildlife photographers including forest department officials and served as a turning point in establishing this sanctuary on global map. Jai is popular as the biggest and the most handsome tiger in India now and hence there is great influx of toursist from all over the world to see this wonderful male tiger and his next generations.
